Barry Dixon in Veranda

We have admired Barry Dixon's work for a while now, and both gasped when we saw the Beyond Classic article in the current issue of Veranda, designed by Barry of course. We had the great fortune of attending a kick off party for the Antiques and Garden Show of Nashville at this very home a few years ago, and believe it or not, it's is even more gorgeous in person!

First things first, here is a picture of us with Barry.  Not only is he a very famous and talented interior designer, he is such a gentleman, and we were honored to get to know him during the show that year!

Simply stunning.

We highly recommend you pick up the latest Veranda and see the full article in person. Barry Dixon's attention to detail, his furniture placement, his use of colors and textures...everything about this home is amazing.

Guest Post: Dynamic Dining Rooms

Today's guest post is from Susi, a writer for Arcadian Lighting. Founded in 2002, Arcadian Lighting started selling decorative home lighting fixtures and lamps online, and has become one of the top Internet retailers for home lighting products. Be sure to visit their website and cool blog for more information!

Often our dining rooms are the least used rooms of our homes. Reserved for formal occasions, these rooms often feel stuffy. Creating a dynamic dining room through color and pattern will make you want to eat more meals in the dining room. Add color through linens and curtains if you aren't ready to commit to new wall color or upholstery. Simple additions can make a big impact. Who knows, you may even be inspired to have a dinner party. Enjoy!

Dynamic rooms have energy. This dining room gets its dynamic energy from the dramatic brown walls offset with white accents, and burst of blue.

Black, white and yellow create a lively palette for this dining room. Dynamic yellow and white curtains add pattern to the space. And look at the matching ceiling light-- definitely a nice added touch to the space.

Bold pops of color make this traditional formal dining room dynamic. Hot pink dining chairs and the blue vase are opposing colors on the color wheel. This contrast creates a dynamic energy.

Complementary colors of orange and green contrast nicely in this San Francisco dining room. The lively hand-painted mural on the wall precludes the need for artwork. What better light fixture for this lovely space than a crystal chandelier?

Bright pink floral upholstery on the dining chairs adds dynamic energy to this pale blue dining room. The brighter pink of the chairs stands out against the pale walls.

A bold patterned rug in trendy chevron stripes adds energy to this room. The tension created by mixing a traditional table with modern chairs gives the decor a dynamic feeling.

Mixing patterns and styles creates a dynamic dining room. Zebra stripes against florals works in this eclectic dining room.

Silvery lamps and colorful lamp shades and artwork turn a monochrome dining room into a dynamic dining room. Bold colors and patterns are a great way to add dynamic energy to any room.

Craving a Cabana?

 (1)
How chic is this pool side cabana!  We especially love the grouping of chandeliers hung at different heights and the plump patterned pillows.

Here is to a wonderful, restful, and relaxing Labor Day weekend!
