Hooded Chairs

We have been referring to these unique chairs as the "egg chairs" for years because we feel the shape is reminiscent of an egg!  Through a bit of research we have realized these chairs have other names such as "domed chair," "hooded chair," or "porter chair."
"The porter's chair dates back to 16th century France.  These chairs were commonly used for protection from the drafts when the gatekeeper of a well-to-do family would sit at the front of the home and screen guests or visitors upon arrival." (2020chrisong.blogspot.com)

These chairs would be wonderful next to a fireplace and would be such a great conversation starter! It's hard to decide which one is our favorite....Maybe the neutral linen one with nail head detail, or maybe the fun bright colorful pair.... Hmm....the options are endless....
Which one is your favorite?

This is BG, the restaurant at Bergdorf 's in NYC designed by Kelly Wearstler.  We have always wanted to dine there- but last time I (Meg) tried it was closed. (boohoo)  I did get to peak inside - and I have to say it is one of the coolest lunch spots I have EVER seen.  She mixes lime green, sky blue and this yummy brandy color throughout the space.  It is a must when visiting the Big Apple!!!

Here is another image from BG.  The hooded chairs seem so inviting.

The gorgeous Le Hooded Chair by The Paris Apartment- a wonderful boutique where I (Brooke) was fortunate enough to intern several summers ago!

Many of us have seen this domed chair this fall thanks to Restoration Hardware.  We had to try it for ourselves and have to say...it is very comfy!  It just envelopes you all around!

This domed chair has a added bonus... NAIL HEADS!!!  We love a good nail head detail!

Thom Filcia designed this space using the hooded chairs around a game table!

The Tides at South Beach, designed by Kelly Wearstler!  She truly loves these domed chairs!

Kelly Wearstler yet again!  We LOVE the trim detail running vertically down the middle of the chair- makes SUCH a statement.

Kelly W. designed these so that you could actually see the person next to you while "cocooned" in these chairs!
