Color, Texture & Pattern

Color, texture and pattern are some of the key design elements that interior designers use to create a well designed and balanced space.

Below are some rooms that we love that strike the perfect balance between those 3 design elements in order to achieve an amazing space!

(1)

We are totally loving patterned painted floors....  I really want to have these floors in my home office!  Mary McDonald does color, pattern, and texture SO well! (painted concrete, leather, wood)

(2)

This is a room we designed for two sweet brothers to share- we loved the navy, chartreuse, and brown together! (love the lacquer bedside table from Bungalow 5 with the Stray Dog glass lamp, the upholstered headboards, and driftwood mirror)

Seagrass, grasscloth, porcelain, linen - OH MY!

(3)

Something as simple as adding this antelope Stark stair-runner can create a fabulous space on it's own.

We are loving the bamboo patterned wallpaper paired with the Gustavian chest and white gourd lamps

 (4)

There is something so amazing when you pair yellow and grey together!  Not to mention the pop of purple!  It is graphic and bold and FAB_U_LOUS!

(5)

Sometimes all you need is color to set the tone for the entire space and really knock it out of the park

This room seems to have the perfect balance to me!

Lacquered walls, wool fabric on the chairs paired with a seagrass rug really creates an amazing space

Everything about the room is to die for!

Wooden walls, mirror, iron - what a perfect mix!

Metal tables, upholstered sofas, linen draperies, and that amazing high gloss piano make one FINE room!

Pinterest

I've recently joined a website called Pinterest.  It's a place where you can navigate through thousands of pictures while looking for inspiration, as well as a place where you can create and organize photos that are inspiring to you through "pin" boards.  When you find an image you like, you can "pin" it onto one of your boards for reference.

Even though I am still learning this site, I already have a disclaimer: Pinterest is amazing and is highly addicting

Here are some inspiring photos I have recently found....

Amazing, right?

In order to join you are either invited or you have to ask to request an invite. I asked, and a few days later, I received an invitation to join. It was that simple.

Happy "Pinning"everyone!

My Nursery is complete!

After 9 long months of planning out the perfect NURSERY it is finally done and here are some pics for you to see!

I stuck with my plan of all whites, creams, oatmeals, with a hint of grey blue!

My husband and I find it very soothing and cannot wait to bring home baby white to his new room!

Jenny Lind Crib with custom bedding!

Baby White's little friends!

Detail shot of the grey/blue ties and box pleat detail on the bumper

Here is the Noir chest made out of reclaimed lumber that we are going to use as our changing table.  Also I added a pair of antique prints (elephant and giraffe) above a pair of hand painted brackets

Goblet pleat detail

Here is a shot of the glider and crib

The only item we are waiting on is the quatre foil floor lamp designed by Suzanne Kasler- it will go to  the left of the chair

Creamy/ White chest with all his fun clothes inside!

The sweet diaper wreath that one of my best friends from college made for my shower- talented right?!
Catherine- maybe you should start selling these??!!!

Well, there you have it!  Baby white is due August 8th- but could come any day now!  We are so blessed and excited!

Greek Key

Everywhere we see....
 Greek Key!

This age old motif is classic and it seems to popping up everywhere, especially interiors.

(1)
We have been admiring this stunning entry designed by Victoria Hagan. One of our favorite elements in this space is the Greek Key moulding.

(2)
This handsome Greek Key table combines both organic and geometric lines.

(3)
Trina Turk seems to be loving this motif as well! Her Greek Key rugs and pillows are so fresh and fun.

(4)
How stunning would a pair of these Greek Key side tables be in front of a sofa or settee?

(5)
Greek Key banding at the edge of this custom dining table skirt is the perfect detail here!

(6)
Here is another Greek Key rug. Palmer Weiss cleverly placed a lucite table over it, so this pattern could be seen.

(7)
This console is so elegant and we love how subtle the Greek Key motif is here.

(8)
This mirrored top Greek Key end table is so glam!

(9)
This is one of our all time favorite furniture pieces and would work well in either a contemporary or traditional space.
(Please pardon this scanned image-it really doesn't do this amazing Greek Key coffee table justice.)

(10)
This motif is even showing up in fashion!
This Greek Key tunic looks so chick paired with white jeans.

(11)
Greek Key Bracelets (from Target!)

 (12)
These Greek Key Pillows would make quite a statement on an upholstered piece of furniture. This line can produce this pillow in a variety of colors!

(13)
We are pretty sure this coffee table is the same table shown in number 9 from this post, and it looks stunning here in this transitional space designed by Margaret Bosbyshell. Even the carpet has an all over Greek Key design.

What do you think? Do you love Greek Key as much as we do? Where would you see this motif in your home.
