Design on Film

If you are looking for a movie to watch over the weekend, here are some of our favorite design related classics. Whatever you are up to this weekend, we hope it is a great one!

Pillow Talk with Doris Day and Rock Hudson is a great romantic comedy where Day plays an interior decorator, and Hudson a woman swindling composer. This movie won an Oscar for best original screenplay in 1959.

GoodBye Again stars Ingrid Bergman, Yves Montand, and Anthony Perkins. If you are a fan of Ingrid Bergman films, this is a must see. She plays an interior decorator in Paris who gets caught up in a love triangle, but in the movie you get to see her shop and some fancy Parisian interiors. Oh, and she wears some amazing Christian Dior outfits. Tres chic

Myrna Loy and Cary Grant star in Mr. Blandings Builds His Dream House. This is a wonderful comedy about a couple (played by Loy and Grant of course) who decide to leave their city apartment in order to fix up a run down home in the country. Soon after, they realize their "fixer upper" needs to be torn down, and that their home needs to be built from scratch. Apparently this film inspired the 80's hit movie The Money Pit (another great one to watch if you haven't seen it already!)

Let us know if you see any of these movies and which one is your favorite!

I have not seen a single one of these movies but now I am anxious to check them out. I often find myself watching the set designs more than the story line so these should be right up my alley!
